Community Based Education improvement program in tea plantation communities

Learning loss that students have experienced due to recent long term school closures is huge. While ere are alternative education methods practiced by education authorities, all the children do not have equal luxury to continue suggested alternative learning methods. The children in tea plantation sector are one of the most affected children group due to school closures during the economic crisis.

As to address the issue of lack of access to education of children in tea plantation communities, We , T-Field Child Development Federation has introduced a community based education program to assist students to recover their learning loss and achieve the targeted educational performances. The program targets the students in secondary grades. Through the suggested program, interested and qualified graduates/ undergraduates will be registered as mentors to assist identified poor performing secondary grade (grade 6- 9 ) children in tea plantation communities. Each mentor will be assigned with maximum 3 identified children to guide them to improve their education performances. Tamil and Mathematics are the two main subjects that will be focused through this program. The mentoring sessions will be conducted virtually in Child resource centers in TFCDF’s project locations.

T- Field Child Development Federation is a non-governmental organization based in NuwaraEliya and Dambulla in Sri Lanka and it has been working with communities with the mission of Empowering children to improve their lives and proving opportunities to become young leaders who bring positive changes in their communities.
