Many people, including children, in Nuwara Eliya are currently food- insecure due to the great spike in food prices. To improve access to healthy and affordable meals in tea plantation communities, we have facilitated the start of community gardens in the area. We had initial discussions with the Agriculture department of Nuwara Eliya to obtain their technical guidance to improve community gardens and officials from the department of agriculture also paid their first visit to the community garden development sites last week.
